Mr. Hurst has practiced exclusively in the area of Family Law for almost a decade and a half, handling matters relating to divorce, custody (parental responsibility), child support, visitation (parenting time), and the preparation of prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements.

During this time, Mr. Hurst has had the pleasure of representing many current and former professional athletes, members of the media, entertainers, musicians, pillars of Chicago’s business and civic communities, and their spouses.

Mr. Hurst’s legal representation has always been premised upon empathy, attention to detail, responsiveness, and depth and breadth of legal knowledge. Mr. Hurst has for many years been acknowledged by his peers as one of the most astute Family Law attorneys in Chicago. Mr. Hurst has been voted by his peers as a Rising Star in the area of Family Law by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2017 (a designation reserved for the top 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois under the age of 40); Mr. Hurst has been voted by his peers as an Emerging Lawyer in the area of Family Law by Leading Lawyers Network every year since 2015 (a designation reserved for the top 2% of attorneys in Illinois under the age of 40); and, Mr. Hurst has been voted by his peers as a Best Lawyer by Best Lawyers in America© since 2021.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Hurst is a certified mediator, having received his mediation training and certification at Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation. Mr. Hurst has written and lectured on the topic of Family Law and, most recently, was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on the Committee on Character and Fitness for the 2024 - 2026 term.
